"Like everyone else, I am extremely busy, working Monday-Friday night shifts, church ministry, running three little kids, continually picking up the house behind those three little kids, holiday events, family get-togethers, etc. The list goes on and on. I found myself thinking I may not have the time for this. But here I am at the end of the first course and I'm saying "Aha!" I found a way to juggle it all, and although the house isn't immaculate, the urgent and important things are getting done. Guess I will just have to practice my delegation skills and hire someone to do the rest. I have learned a lot in the past few weeks. I know how to do proper research now, and that’s HUGE!"

"Several times I have caught myself thinking about this class while driving to work. Even though I feel I am a great listener and team player, I have pushed myself to be even better. I have discussed small departmental changes that could really help the nurses with management. At the same time, I have been more understanding to “the other side’s” opinion. I even discussed an article that I came across with the cardiologist. It has made me think differently at work.

"I have had an adjustment to being back in school and this time with a family. But it has been easier I think with this online course to manage my time. I find myself using the time I have wisely and not procrastinating like I did in nursing school. I can see myself starting to use my time more wisely at work also. I also have enjoyed learning what it means to have a BSN. I had always heard there is not much difference, but there is such a different level of looking at things such as the evidence-based research that we are doing. I can see now how to research why we do things in the hospital setting and not just do them because I was trained that way. I was afraid at first but I am glad I am back in school also! It's challenging but fun!

"The skill of researching a question to find the best way to do things is one skill I will use in the rest of my time in school. This is a very good skill to have. I have struggled with this but I think I will be ok. Evidence-based practice has always been something I have heard about at work but never really paid close attention to until this class. I look forward to getting more involved in this."
