STEM education is indispensable to U.S. success
Jobs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, known as STEM, are expected to increase by 1 million in the next five years, according to the STEM Education Coalition. The Washington, D.C.-based organization is on the forefront of STEM initiatives and advocates for STEM education to ensure America is competitive and economically viable.
Poor math, science skills
Not enough students have strong math and science skills, highlighting the importance of STEM education. In fact, the STEM Education Coalition reports that only 30 percent of high-school seniors who took the ACT test were ready for college science classes. Well-trained STEM teachers can help drive America's success by preparing qualified students for STEM careers. These are among the reasons why STEM education is so important.
A critical focus area
