We're here to help you succeed!
If you find that you need some help, guidance or tutoring, our dedicated team of academic advisors and instructors are available whenever you need them. In the meantime, here are a few tips for success:
- Download the syllabus. It is the single most valuable document in the course. Read it for details about course expectations, assignment due dates, and discussion topics. Mark those details in your personal calendar so you can stay on top of your coursework.
- Register according to your degree plan. The degree plan you were given takes into consideration any pre-requisite courses or advanced courses you will need. Stay well-informed of this plan, as deviating from it, may result in you taking longer to finish the program.
- Give yourself time to think. Being an online student requires more than reading, taking exams, writing papers, and if required, completing clinicals or capstones. The advanced content requires that you take time to think about the content and how it can be applied to your chosen career.
- Learn to use the library and other online resources. Some assignments will require materials accessible only through the library’s databases. Time spent learning to navigate the library and websites containing professional reliable information is an investment that will pay off in higher grades.
- Network. As a distance learner, it’s important to have a strong online presence to develop relationships with your professors and fellow classmates. Get to know your peers in each of your courses and continue to stay in contact with them once the course is over. Networking is all about who you can assist, and who can potentially help you in return. And, just as you would in-person, make sure to put your best, and most professional, foot forward.
